To focus our international humanitarian work and sharing of the gospel, we have chosen to work with local partners in Haiti. Haiti was selected based on the need in the country, the ability to partner locally and the match of the local needs with skills and talents in our church.
This singular focus allows us to build and maintain lasting relationships with local missionaries and aid workers. As well, it allows us to maximize the depth of understanding of the people and the issues facing the country, which helps us serve them more effectively. Through our partnership with Global Partners and Compassion, we are investing resources in local projects that make an impact in the lives of Haitians.
Since its launch in September 2009, luvHAITI has sent seven teams and one long-term missionary to Haiti, as well as meeting practical needs through two successful luvHAITI Christmas Catalogues, launching the luvHAITI MicroBank, and sending the luvHAITI Bike Messenger out to raise awareness and funds for the build of a desperately needed new hospital in our adopted Haitian community of Anse-à-Galets. And we're just getting started!
