In May of 2012, God spoke to Haligonian bike messenger Philip Block in a way that he didn't expect. As he prayed for God's guidance and direction, he felt God clearly tell him to pack up his life and prepare to deliver one final message as a bike messenger. But this time, instead of delivering company paperwork for clients, he would be delivering a message of God's love for the people of Haiti.
On June 3, 2012, Philip set off from Halifax, NS to cycle cross-country as the luvHAITI Bike Messenger, raising awareness and funds for the build of a desperately needed hospital on the Island of La Gonave, in Haiti. Partnering with luvHAITI and LemonAID (the Scottish charity spearheading the hospital build), Philip completed his 6,500-km cycle in just fifty days and successfully raised over $15,000 for the hospital. These funds were matched by a Scottish donor, meaning over $30,000 was raised through Philip's efforts!
This is just one of many incredible stories of God's direction and faithfulness through luvHAITI's ministry. To God be the glory!
We often think of the Kingdom of Heaven as something we'll go to later, after we die. We sometimes even think of it as just another term for Heaven. But Jesus taught that the Kingdom is now, the Kingdom is here, and he taught us to pray not that we would go to the Kingdom but that the Kingdom would come on earth as it is in Heaven. For the next 14 weeks, we're going to study through the Gosepl of Mark and unpack what the Kingdom is, what it's like, how to enter it, how to live in it, and how we advance it on Earth as it is in Heaven.
