Refining Fire: Read Malachi 3:1-4

Our passage today describes judgement of God on His people and how He will deal with the sin in their lives. It uses the picture of a refining fire, like the kind you would use to refine silver of its impurities. In our lives, sin is the gross stuff that has to be burned away in order to make us pure. If we want to live out God’s invitation to “be holy, as I am holy” (1 Peter 1:16),  there is some sin, and pride, and selfishness that He is going to have to refine out of us. That process is not fun- but it is freeing.

This week, let’s be praying that God would convict us of sin in our lives & set us free from anything that is not of Him.
