Church Planting on the Coast
October 20, 2019
A primary focus of Deep Water’s ReachOut program centres around church planting- we exist to help people become passionate followers of Jesus Christ, and we love to support other churches with the same vision. So when the opportunity came up to support the planting of a new church in Barrington, NS, we jumped at the chance!
Coastal Church is brand new; they launched on September 29, 2019, and drew a crowd of 352 people on that first Sunday. This is an amazing number, especially in such a rural area. The group was comprised of many brand new people as well as other church pastors coming out to give their support, truly the definition of churches being “in cahoots” with each other. In week two they had a more “normal” week, with 201 people- still a stellar turnout. Right now they are in the process of launching student ministries, small groups, and CR, and are truly plugging into the community in a big way.
The folks at Coastal have this to say about why they started: “Coastal Church was started in response to the growing number of people in our community not attending church or pursuing relationship with Jesus. The goal is to create a place where people who aren’t going to church would feel comfortable and welcome to attend. Our hope is to present the gospel in accessible and relevant language and to be a positive influence in our community. We believe Jesus is the solution to the negative things we see around us and we want introduce people to him!”
We are in a time of social and political conflict, with people at odds with each other wherever you look. And yet here we are, followers of Jesus loving and supporting each other as we expand the Kingdom. Thank you Deep Water, for your faithful giving that allows our church
